Synthesis of MnO2 as Supercapacitor Electrodes Material by Green Chemistry Method Through Dehydroxylation of Tangerine Peel (Citrus reticulata) Essential Oil

In this era, most technology requires electronic equipment. The performance of equipment may be affected by energy storage components like a supercapacitor, so the development supercapacitor electrode materials using green chemical methods needs to pursued. Material with good specific capacitance is MnO2. Most MnO2 synthesis are not based on chemistry, there an alternative method. One them utilizing waste from tangerine peels. This study aimed synthesize through dehydroxylation peel essential oil. steps for conducting research consisted isolation oil, analysis constituent oils peel, and characterization. XRD results showed that synthesized at pH 11 had highest percentage α-MnO2 (97%). evidenced presence diffractogram according ICSD No.20227. SEM spherical morphology particle diameter 39.51 nm. has larger tunnel structure compared β- γ-MnO2, making charge-discharge process easier potential as material.
